An unusual upholstery clean in Leamington Spa

Removing silicone putty from a sofa cushion.
Physiotherapy putty is a silicone polymer that is used to help improve grip strength amongst other things.
In this instance a ball of it has fallen from its container and between the cushions. It has been rubbed into the fabric.
After I'd taken the call I researched what the putty is made of and from there came up with a process to remove it.
I removed the excess with a blunt scraper until no more could be mechanically recovered.
From there on it was a slow process to use a solvent impregnated cloth to remove small amounts of putty at each pass. The solvent used in this instance is a plant based one that doesn't smell too much and is one of the safer options.
Once finished the solvent was left to evaporate and the shadow disappeard. No machinery, no noise and now, no bright yellow putty.
If you'd like to know if your stain can be removed you can get in touch on the 'contact me' page or call on 01926 492696.
